Upon entering the museum, take a moment to enjoy the Streetcar Communities Exhibit. There you will find information on the various streetcar lines in the Washington Metropolitan area. A model trolley layout also replicates streetcar service on Connecticut Avenue.

A featured film in the Auditorium The Trolley by Golly takes a look back to a simpler time when a young man could aspire to having a career as a trolley driver one day. In Conduit Hall a cutaway of a downtown DC street that allows visitors to see the “plow” system that the streetcar had to revert to in the city, since it was felt that the overhead wires detracted from the downtown skyline.

Take a twenty minute ride aboard one of our vintage streetcars on the mile and a half track through Northwest Branch Park. All of the museum's cars and tracks are restored and maintained by volunteer staff. We are always looking for additional volunteers!

Warren Miller Movie
Event Start Date: 11/11/2018 12:00 PM
Volkswagen presents Warren Miller's 69th film, Face of Winter
Hosted by Ski Club of Washington, DC (SCWDC)

Sunday, November 11, 2018
Show times at 12 noon, 3 pm & 6 pm
If winter puts a smile on your face, it’s something you had in common with the late, great Warren Miller. The warm, witty, mildly eccentric godfather of the ski-and-ride film was the man who got us started on this long, crazy ride. This fall, don’t miss Volkswagen presents Warren Miller’s Face of Winter, the 69th installment from Warren Miller Entertainment.

Visit some of Warren’s favorite locations, from Engleberg to Chamonix, British Columbia to Alaska, Chile, Iceland, New Zealand, Washington and more. Watch world-class skiers like Jessie Diggins, along with the U.S. Nordic Ski Team as they train like champions, and catch big mountain athletes like Anna Segal, Dash Longe, Forrest Jillson, Amie Engerbretson, Seth Wescott, Jim Ryan, Marcus Caston and others as they carve down the faces of mountain ranges in pursuit of a life lived in high places. Join the tribute and continue the legacy this fall. We are all the “Face of Winter.”

Continue (or start) a great fall tradition! Join fellow snow sports lovers, snow enthusiasts, and adrenaline seekers in the greater DC Metro area for an exclusive screening of this movie that captures breathtaking skiing and panoramic splendor.

Watch the movie on a ginormous 46’x16’ High Definition screen with state-of-the-art 7.1 digital surround sound (largest High Definition screen in the DC region) in an intimate 250-seat movie theater, from a plush, tilt-back seat with an unobstructed view, in stadium-style seating. With goodies for every ticket holder and prize drawings at every screening, it is the perfect excuse to get together with your skiing and riding buddies to get stoked for the season ahead. Enjoy the free mini Ski and Snowboard Expo before or after the movie for winter sports, travel, sportswear, and equipment exhibits.

Before or after the movie, take in the vibrant nightlife, restaurants, and museums in the bustling Penn Quarter entertainment district. Beverages and snacks are available for purchase at the theater. The theater is conveniently located just steps from the Archives-Navy Memorial-Penn Quarter Metro Station. Or take advantage of no meter fee for on-street parking on Sundays.
